Is Ragdale Hall Spa Worth It? My Honest Review After an Overnight Stay

If you’re thinking about booking a spa break at Ragdale Hall, you’re probably wondering one thing: is it actually worth the money?

Ragdale Hall Spa Review: Is It Worth the Money?

After spending a full day and night at Ragdale Hall Spa, I can honestly say it’s one of my favourite spa experiences I’ve had in the UK, and I’m someone who loves a spa stay! From the impressive thermal spa and peaceful relaxation rooms to the incredible food and comfortable bedrooms, it felt like somewhere you could genuinely switch off for 24 hours.

If you’re wondering what to expect before you book, here’s everything we experienced during our stay.

My Ragdale Hall Spa Experience

We arrived just before 11am, checked in and headed straight for lunch before making the most of the spa facilities.

One thing I loved about Ragdale Hall is that there’s so much more than just a swimming pool. We spent hours moving between the different thermal experiences, relaxing in the various steam rooms and saunas, trying the hydrotherapy pools and finding quiet corners to simply sit and unwind.

It never felt rushed, and because there are so many different areas to explore, it was easy to spend an entire afternoon without getting bored.

The Infinity Pool Was My Favourite Part

If there’s one thing that makes Ragdale Hall stand out, it’s the outdoor infinity pool.

Looking out across the Leicestershire countryside while floating in the warm water was easily my favourite part of the whole trip.

Because we were staying overnight, we were allowed into the spa 30 minutes before the public opening time the following morning. Watching the sun rise over the gardens with barely anyone else around was such a peaceful experience and definitely one of those moments that makes an overnight stay worthwhile.

The Bedrooms & Overnight Stay

Our room was spacious, modern and incredibly comfortable.

One of my favourite touches was having breakfast delivered straight to the room the next morning. Sitting in a dressing gown with a tray of fresh fruit, pancakes, pastries and coffee felt like the perfect slow start before heading back into the spa.

If you’re deciding between a spa day and an overnight stay, I’d personally choose the overnight experience every time. Having the extra evening and early morning in the spa makes it feel much more relaxing.

The Treatments

Our package included a back massage and a facial. Although both were lovely, the facial was definitely the highlight for me.

Rather than simply going through the motions, my therapist took the time to explain my skin and gave me practical advice on products that would help – and others I should avoid – because of my rosacea.

It felt much more personalised than many spa facials I’ve had elsewhere, and I came away with advice I still remember.

Dinner at Ragdale Hall

Dinner is another highlight of the experience.

The dining room has a lovely atmosphere without feeling overly formal, and the food genuinely exceeded my expectations.

We enjoyed a three-course meal with beautifully presented dishes, and every course felt like part of the overall luxury experience rather than just somewhere to eat between spa sessions.

Breakfast the following morning was equally good and rounded off the stay perfectly.

Bedroom Tour

Our room was just as impressive as the spa itself. It felt modern and luxurious while still being warm and comfortable, with thoughtful touches that made it feel more like a boutique hotel than a typical spa bedroom.

The beds were incredibly comfortable, and after spending the day relaxing in the spa, we both slept brilliantly. I also loved the décor. The soft neutral tones were lifted with pops of coral and blue, giving the room a fresh, stylish feel without feeling overdone. My favourite detail had to be the retro-style telephone on the bedside table, which added a fun, quirky touch.

There was a cosy seating area with two armchairs and a coffee table, making it easy to enjoy breakfast in the room the following morning. We also had tea and coffee-making facilities, a large TV, plenty of storage, complimentary toiletries and a spacious walk-in rainfall shower.

One of my favourite parts of the stay was waking up early, making a cup of tea and enjoying breakfast in the room before heading down to the spa. It made the whole experience feel slower and more relaxing, rather than rushing straight out for breakfast.

Ragdale Hall Spa Review: Is It Worth the Money?

For me, yes.

It’s certainly not the cheapest spa in the UK, but it offers much more than a standard spa day. The facilities are extensive, the service was excellent, the treatments were some of the best I’ve experienced, and the overnight stay made it feel like a proper escape rather than a few hours of relaxation.

If you’re celebrating a special occasion, planning a couples’ getaway or simply looking to properly switch off, I’d happily recommend Ragdale Hall.

Should You Book a Spa Day or Stay Overnight?

We stayed for one night as part of a gifted PR stay, and it gave us plenty of time to experience the spa, enjoy dinner, have breakfast in our room and fit in both of our treatments the following morning.

If you’re celebrating something special, though, I’d definitely consider one of Ragdale Hall’s longer spa breaks. Their two and three-night packages include accommodation, breakfast, a three-course lunch and dinner each day, full use of the spa facilities, and treatments, making it much easier to slow down and enjoy everything without watching the clock.

That said, if you’re simply looking for a relaxing spa escape for a night, I’d personally find the overnight packages quite expensive. In that case, I’d probably choose one of Ragdale Hall’s spa day packages instead. You still get to experience the incredible facilities – which, for me, are the real highlight – but at a much lower price.

For a special occasion or milestone birthday, though, I can absolutely see why people choose to stay longer. The atmosphere, food, treatments and facilities make it feel like a proper luxury retreat rather than just another hotel with a spa.

Would I go back?

Absolutely. I’d happily return for another spa day, and if I was celebrating a special occasion, I’d seriously consider booking a two-night stay to experience even more of what Ragdale Hall has to offer.
